Troubleshooting

Which colour temperature and CRI should I specify?

CCT says how white the light looks; CRI says how true to life the light renders. Pick CCT per room, CRI per product.

What we need to confirm it

  • Room/function, surface colour, product being lit, budget for CRI?

Diagnosis

Cause, then fix

CCT chosen by feel, not by room function

Warm 2700K for bedrooms and hospitality, neutral 4000K for kitchens, workshops and corridors, cool 5000-6000K for industrial and security.

Fix: Write the CCT per zone on the drawing, not in a general spec note.

CRI ignored on product lighting

Below Ra80, reds and skin tones render badly — a real cost on apparel, food, jewellery and cosmetics.

Fix: Ra90 minimum anywhere products are sold; Ra95+ for jewellery, art and cosmetics.

Mixed bins inside one project

2700K from two suppliers = two whites on the same corridor.

Fix: One CCT, one CRI, one production batch per project.

Spec that avoids this

Strips used to build it properly

High CRI Ra95+ LED Strip

High CRI Ra95+ LED Strip

Ra95+ / Ra97+ strip for applications where true color rendering is critical — retail, museum, gallery and studio lighting.

9.6W/m / 12W/m · DC24V · IP20 / IP65
