Flicker is almost never the LED. It is the driver, the dimmer or a bad joint. Find which one in three steps.
Cheap leading-edge (trailing phase-cut) household dimmers cut the waveform in a way cheap constant-voltage drivers cannot hold. The strip strobes at low output.
Fix: Use a trailing-edge dimmer rated for LED, or PWM / 0-10V / DALI driver built for LED loads.
A driver at 90% of its rated load overheats; its output ripple shows up as flicker across the whole run.
Fix: Size the driver at 1.3x the strip load and check the warranty period, not just the price.
Flicker on one section only, and it moves when the cable is touched — that is a joint, not a driver.
Fix: Re-crimp or solder that joint. Avoid screw terminals on strips; they loosen with thermal cycling.
Chaining reels through the tail connector stacks resistance and starves the far end, which strobes at the boundary.
Fix: Power each 5 m reel from its own feed. Series length is limited by the datasheet, not by common sense.
